Plaid praise for award-winning Wrexham firm
8th October 2004
North Wales AM Janet Ryder today visited Pace Telecom Ltd at Gresford Industrial Park, Wrexham in order to meet and congratulate management and staff on winning the 2004 British Small Business Champion (BSBC) for Wales.
The Plaid Cymru AM was present at the Regional Awards ceremony held at Cardiff last Tuesday (October 28th) when Pace Telecom were announced the winners from the six Welsh finalists. The judges for the competition were looking for a small business with less than 50 employees that showed commitment to the local economy, its staff and customers.
Following her visit to the Wrexham based company, Janet Ryder said:
"I was so pleased to be present at the ceremony and to hear the announcement that Pace Telecom had won this award. This is a very good local company, which employs local people. The work is highly skilled and the company has a very bright future. The judges praised Pace telecom for the way it listens to its customers; its flexibility in adapting to changing markets and for the commitment made to the staff. I very much welcomed the opportunity to meet and congratulate both management and staff here today.
"What was so pleasing about the awards ceremony was realising that four out of the six finalists came from north Wales. This is recognition of the many excellent small businesses that have developed in the region and providing employment to local people. Last year, the winners of the Welsh round also came from North Wales, Geoscience Wales from Llandudno Junction. This recognition of our small businesses is very encouraging and it is very important that these companies are acknowledged for their contribution to the local economy.
"I wish Pace Telecom every success for the future and in the next round of the BSBC Awards 2004, which will be held in London on 10th November. I hope that the company continues to work in this area and expand the business, providing benefit not only to those who work in this type of skilled industry but also to the region."
